About Us

We at Sidney Glen have some deeply held beliefs that we share with our students in practice. We subscribe to the research that underscores the growth potential all people have if their mind set is right. We have aligned much of our language with Carolyn Dwek’s work about a growth mindset. We have also use much of Paul Tough’s research about resilience and "grit" – helping our children to believe and apply a set of skills that have the idea of "grit" or perseverance embedded in them. The ultimate idea is to bring our children (and staff) to see there is amazing potential within each of us that can only be unlocked when we apply the thinking above.

We teach and live the ‘7 Habits of Happy Kids’ modeled after the Stephen Covey philosophy. We are proud of being a school that reaches out to the whole child. We have after-school drama and basketball programs and offer wonderful evening events for the whole family throughout the year like Art Night, Math Game Night, Movie Night, Dinner with Dads, etc. usually sponsored by our PTA.

We are into our second year of offering after school clubs that teach journalism, writing for purpose, drama, clay creations, chess, drawing, etc. Sidney Glen is a great place to live and learn, where we care deeply for one another, and we expect to see great things happen in our kids’ lives.
